Dr. Curt Baxstrom, OD
Dr. Curt Baxstrom is one of the talented behavioral optometrists in the Puget Sound area. For a listing of other individuals trained in developmental or behavioral optometry, check your local listing of Optometrist for those who are Board Certified, and call to ask questions stimulated by Dr. Baxstrom's information brochure. Eye doctors and optometrists do not necessarily check for or treat disorders of binocular function. If you suspect that this is a problem for you, now you know that help does exist.
While The HANDLE Institute recognizes the value of this treatment for many individuals, we hold to the position that visual functions, as any other function, are part of an integrated and interactive system. If there is a deficit in a more basic neurodevelopmental area (such as vestibular irregularities, immaturity in reflex inhibiiton, deficits in the tactile and proprioceptive input with regard to body in space), vision training may be inappropriate or at least inopportune.
